The overall activity level of this tour is a level 3. This means you're an on-the-go traveler. You don't want to miss a thing, so walking and standing for longer periods of time (2-3 hours) isn't a big deal. A moderately paced two-and-a-half-hour walking tour, covering several miles, hills, and uneven surfaces, is no problem for you. Walking four miles over the course of a day is very doable, as is climbing into and out of various modes of transportation (tuk-tuk, cable car, zodiac, etc.). You can climb three flights of stairs easily and handle altitudes between 6,000 and 9,000 feet. Expect some longer days with early mornings or late nights balanced with free time to recharge or set out on your own adventure. This level is not a fit for travelers who require mobility assistance devices.
On this tour, expect to travel with an average of 37 people (maximum of 44).
Children under the age of 12 are not permitted at Sky Lagoon and an alternative will be provided.
If you wish to climb up the Akranes Lighthouse, there are four levels with steep pitched stairs to each mezzanine. The climb is considered moderately strenuous due to the confined, steep, and continuous spiral nature of the ascent with approximately 80 steps to the top viewing platform.
If you require any special assistance while on tour, please make us aware at the time of reservation so the necessary request form can be sent to your attention.
Appropriate clothing is critical to fully enjoying your trip. Iceland's weather conditions are ever-changing and require sturdy waterproof shoes and layers of waterproof and windproof clothing.
Summer temperatures in Iceland are cool and variable, typically ranging from 4°C to low 15°C (mid-40s to the low-60s°F). Weather can change quickly - sunshine, wind, and rain may all occur on the same day. Expect strong coastal winds and cooler conditions near waterfalls, glaciers, and the ocean. Daylight hours are very long (up to 20+ hours), which can affect sleep; eye masks are recommended. Weather conditions on the water are colder and windier than on land.
Your safety is our priority. Please always stay on marked paths and follow the Tour Manager's instructions.
Most natural sites, such as waterfalls, beaches, and lava fields, require walking on unpaved, uneven surfaces that are slippery from ice and rain.
Due to long-distance travels to the Jökulsárlón Glacial Lagoon, you may expect free time after 1:30 p.m. for lunch on your own.
Puffins can usually be viewed mid-May through mid-August.
The best season for viewing seals is from June to August.
During the months of April and October, the Jokulsárlón Glacial Lagoon cruise may not operate due to seasonality. This is reflected in the land price for these time periods.
On occasion, some activities may not be available due to inclement weather.
Museum visits and shopping may be affected by the observance of religious or local holidays.
The days and order of sightseeing may change to best utilize your time on tour.
Hotel check-in on your day of arrival is 3:00 p.m. Rooms may not be available prior to that time.
